Examine a Popular Concern that’s gotten under your skin, and notice if it seems – shall we say – borrowed. Does it have the feeling of new urgency? Or perhaps, “Everybody’s talkin’ about . . .!” See if, by stepping aside from allegiance to popular notion, a more authentic You arises, something more truly your own, maybe a little more enduring.
If at first your opinion seems too different to express to others — too unique, even a little weird — just keep it to yourself; see if it firms up. If it does become yours, sharing it with someone might not brand you as an eccentric.
