This exercise is like an appendectomy: it’s no fun at all, but if you shirk it, you may die.
See if just one of your Wants has shifted to look like a Need. Don’t panic! We all do this naturally, but neediness makes people very unhappy, and we can de-program. Just notice it, be honest about it, name it. Do this little exercise and you’ll never regret having done it.
Continue to notice Wants masquerading as Needs. Soon, you will have the choice to release the feeling that you will die if you don’t get a particular Want fulfilled. Then it will have become a manageable Want.
And you’ll be a wee bit happier.
